I enjoy designing and building infrastructure solutions to meet business improvement programmes. These typically employ components of Oracle Fusion Middleware on top of the Oracle Database, and are used for call-centre and web/mobile applications, as well as integration and orchestration services. They are almost invariably highly available, clustered systems built to Oracle's MAA and Enterprise Deployment guidelines (or similar).
As part of these roles I am often engaged to help in designing, or reviewing, the system architecture including server hardware, network design (especially application delivery controllers/load balancers), storage and virtualisation platform.
I have been working with Oracle products since 1995 and, more specifically, Oracle middleware since 1999.
I am an active member of the UK Oracle User Group and have been speaking at their events since 2000. Currently I am chair of the UKOUG Application Server & Middleware special interest group, which holds 3 meetings a year and is dedicated to the needs of Oracle middleware administrators and architects. I have also delivered technical presentations at a variety of other conferences including Oracle OpenWorld, ODTUG, DOAG, OUGN, Oracle Fusion Middleware Partner Forum and others.
